Simultaneous Translation Services for green-Y Event
DAI (Thailand) Limited (hereinafter referred to as “DAI”), under the USAID Mekong Adaptation and Resilience to Climate Change (hereinafter referred to as “USAID Mekong ARCC”) Program, Contract No. AID-486-C-11-00004, invites quotations for “Simultaneous Translation Services for green-Y Event” from organizations interested in providing the services listed below.
BACKGROUND:
The USAID Mekong ARCC Program helps strengthen human and institutional capacity to develop and implement climate change adaptation plans and strategies; strengthen policies, tools, methodologies, and practices for ecosystem services valuation and climate resiliency; demonstrate and scale-up model actions for integrated approaches to climate change adaptation, and sustain regional learning networks to share and replicate best practices.
To cap off activities of several USAID Regional Development Mission for Asia projects this year and with the participation from bilateral USAID Missions in the region, a committee of projects is organizing a half-day event called green-Y on June 11, 2016, to showcase USAID’s contributions to address climate change in Asia. This large event (300 attendees expected) will engage youth, civil society, and environmental experts through informational, varied talks in English and in Thai. The event is anticipated to take place in Bangkok, Thailand.
The green-Y event is meant to inspire, motivate, connect and energize. Talks given at green-Y will be a carefully curated and rehearsed presentation by thinkers, experts, professionals and artists who are passionate about his or her subject, which can range far beyond the original boundaries. The speakers for green-Y have already been identified and invited. Out of 300+ guests, 150 will be university students interested in, or studying, climate change in Southeast Asia.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The selected firm will be responsible for supporting the green-Y organization team to provide on-site simultaneous translation services from English to Thai and Thai to English for the duration of the event. The required service will start around 13:00 hrs. and will end around 16:00 hrs. Tools and equipment basics for the service will be provided by the selected firm, and should be included in the quotation. Recording of interpretation should be permitted and included in the contract.
On-site support for simultaneous translation:
- The firm shall provide on-site support for simultaneous translation / interpretation for the duration of the event, with a minimum of, but not limit to, an interpreter’s booth, over 300+ headphones, technician(s), and a list of technical tools used to assure the quality on-site interpretation.
- Two interpreters for the simultaneous translation service from English to Thai and Thai to English for a half-day event.
*Note that interpreters must meet skill requirements below. DAI reserves the right to hire the winning firm for technical tools and equipment basics only.
Skill requirements:
- The firm also needs to demonstrate proven experience in providing simultaneous translation services to international organizations and events.
- The interpreter(s) should have fluency in the English and Thai languages and extensive experience in providing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation services at international workshops and conferences. The interpreter(s) should understand and be equipped with the ability to interpret terminology relating to the climate change issues, as conveyed by speakers from multiple sectors, such as banking and finance, religious, alternative energy, education, etc.
QUOTATION REQUIREMENT:
Interested firms should submit quotations and information as required below. Quotations will be assessed on both technical and cost merits, which include:
- Price and specification of technical tools and equipment basics
- Price of interpreters
- Detailed CVs of individual interpreters
- A list of international events for which the firm and/or individual interpreters provided interpretation (together with the name of a contact person from the organizer who is directly available for further inquiries from DAI)
- Company profile
- Your quotation must be expressed in English, and valid for a minimum period of 30 days
REPORTING:
The selected firm will report to the Communications Specialist of USAID Mekong ARCC.
DELIVERABLE TIMELINE:
Signed Subcontract no later than May 27, 2016
Providing on-site simultaneous translation services June 11, 2016
